About The Position

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full-time IT Project Manager - Journey (non-permanent) in the Information Services Division. The expected duration is approximately through June 30, 2027, with the possibility of being extended further. This position is located in Tumwater, Washington, and is not union-represented. About the Information Services Division The Information Services Division (ISD) provides support and consulting for legal technologies. The division is responsible for the development and delivery of AGO computer and telephone network infrastructure and the operation of network hardware and software platforms to provide AGO staff access to their work products and communications. This division has multiple units that provide eDiscovery litigation support, custom software development, business intelligence and data management services. Data security and disaster recovery are key to the maintenance and operations of the AGO's voice and data systems. The division also ensures compliance with state governance policies and standards and ensures that all electronic services function properly and securely.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of IT experience applying best practices in managing project management from initiation through closeout; working knowledge of project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) and ability to apply them appropriately; experience developing and maintaining project management deliverables such as charters, workplans, schedules, risk registers, and communication plans, and familiarity with organizational change management practices (e.g., Prosci), or equivalent work experience.
  • OR Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field, or equivalent experience; AND six (6) years of IT experience applying best practices in managing project management from initiation through closeout; working knowledge of project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) and ability to apply them appropriately; experience developing and maintaining project management deliverables such as charters, workplans, schedules, risk registers, and communication plans, and familiarity with organizational change management practices (e.g., Prosci), or equivalent work experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field, or equivalent experience; AND four (4) years of IT experience applying best practices in managing project management from initiation through closeout; working knowledge of project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) and ability to apply them appropriately; experience developing and maintaining project management deliverables such as charters, workplans, schedules, risk registers, and communication plans, and familiarity with organizational change management practices (e.g., Prosci), or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management certifications or advanced project management training. For example, PMI’s Project Management Professional Certification; University of Washington’s Project Management; or South Puget Sound Community College’s Project Management courses.
  • Law firm work experience and an understanding of how to support the delivery of legal services.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Share Point; LawManager (case management system), and other litigation technology software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate projects: Initiates, plans, establish and monitors scope, schedule and budget for IT projects
  • Defines and documents the Statement of Work and specifications for procurement needs, and develops work order contracts, as necessary, to support delivery of project objectives.
  • Creates and provides Project Status reports and communications.
  • Conducts Lessons Learned and prepare project Closeout Reports.
  • Analysis of business processes: Leading meetings to elicit business requirements, functional specifications and clearly write them as technical requirements for new and existing solutions or applications.
  • Defining Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) that deliver incremental value via an agile approach, prioritize releases and manage associated stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and stakeholder requirements by developing acceptance criteria, testing solutions and providing technical support documentation.
  • Evaluate and propose technical solutions: Evaluates new technology including analysis, procurement, customization, modification, installation, testing and documentation to address specific agency requirements.
  • Develop processes, procedures and technical documentation to support operations.
  • Research and functional testing with other IT teams on group policy issues, network security, firewalls and other issues that affect application functionality
