About The Position

As an IT Project Manager in APS’s IT PMO, you will lead complex, high-impact technology initiatives that support the reliable delivery of energy to customers and communities. This role connects strategy to execution—driving multi-year projects that strengthen infrastructure, modernize systems, and support generation and customer operations. Your leadership helps ensure APS continues to provide dependable, forward-looking energy solutions while advancing innovation across the organization.

Requirements

Proven experience managing complex, high-visibility IT projects, including multi-year initiatives with significant budgets and risk
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams and other project managers
Demonstrated expertise in project fundamentals such as scope, schedule, budget, and risk management across concurrent projects
Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, vendors, and senior leaders
Working knowledge of infrastructure, networking, hardware systems, and emerging technologies, with familiarity in agile and waterfall methodologies
A strategic thinker who can connect project outcomes to broader organizational goals and customer impact
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
Five (5) years of prior relevant experience managing projects in the area of software applications, IT infrastructure or cybersecurity or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience (for IT Project Manager II)
In lieu of bachelor's degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience as a Project Manager or in positions defining and/or managing project scopes, timelines, budgets and delivery equaling nine (9) years (for IT Project Manager II)
Experience managing multiple small-to-medium size projects simultaneously (for IT Project Manager II)
Eight (8) years of prior relevant experience managing large scale IT projects in the area of software applications, IT infrastructure or cybersecurity or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience (for IT Project Manager III)
Working project management knowledge and experience developing or updating project plans for information technology projects (including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing) (for IT Project Manager III)

Responsibilities

Lead multiple large-scale IT projects (often 7–10 at a time) with budgets ranging from $5M–$10M, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget
Partner with teams across the business—including generation, customer operations, and technical groups—to deliver solutions that improve service and reliability
Build and execute project plans, aligning timelines, resources, and priorities across multi-year initiatives
Guide cross-functional teams and vendors, fostering collaboration and keeping stakeholders informed and aligned
Identify and mitigate risks, making informed decisions to keep complex projects moving forward successfully
Support initiatives involving infrastructure, networking, hardware, and battery-related technologies critical to APS operations
Coordinate with diverse stakeholders and disciplines to ensure development of moderate scale project plans, effective resource planning, project estimates, project organization and roles and responsibilities
Determine project lifecycle In accordance with internal process methodologies
Develop and assign project schedules, tasks, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
Prepare necessary scope definitions, cost estimates, economic analysis, schedule milestones, and other project objectives to obtain work authorizations
Control and manage impact of scope-creep throughout the project life cycle.
Analyze impact of scope change requests on deliverables, cost, schedule and project resources.
Assist in the coordination of production change management for the project
