About The Position

The IT Programmer is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of manufacturing and business applications that support plant operations. The role develops and maintains software solutions, databases, system integrations, reports, and automation tools while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, resolve technical issues, maintain documentation, and deliver reliable technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and business performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in software development, systems analysis, application support, or Information Technology, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting shop-floor systems, industrial devices, PLC-connected equipment, databases, production terminals, and manufacturing workstation environments.
• Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP systems, manufacturing applications, or shop-floor technologies.
• Experience with relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, database design, query optimization, reporting, and data analysis.
• Proficiency in software development using C#, .NET, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and related development frameworks.
• Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON, XML, and related integration technologies.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, and manufacturing system integrations.
• Familiarity with source control and DevOps tools such as Git and Azure DevOps.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and basic networking concepts.
• Experience with reporting, analytics, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
• Experience with Power Platform technologies including Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and secure application development principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, customer focus, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Magna MES standards and templates preferred.
• Experience with PLC-connected systems, industrial automation, Industry 4.0 technologies, JIT/JIS manufacturing processes, and automotive production environments preferred.
• Experience with SAP ERP, system integrations, data exchange processes, and manufacturing-related business applications.
• Experience with JIT/JIS, batch manufacturing, production traceability, and automotive manufacturing processes.
• Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, MAFACT, MPS, or Industry 4.0 programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment. Includes the following: Compliance with all EHS policies and procedures is sustained. Report and resolve any identified hazards. Investigate workplace accidents/incidents of which you are aware and/or within the work area(s) under your responsibility, which may include but is not limited to conducting interviews with employees, investigating the incident scene, preparing incident investigation reports, and implementing corrective actions. In the event of a critical injury, ensure a worker representative of the Joint Health & Safety Committee is notified and assists with the investigation. Support employees impaired through injury or illness to safely return to work (Return to Work program). Participate in monthly EHS inspections. Champion plant 5S activity, ensure regular audits are conducted and issues corrected to ensure the operation meets 5S expectations.
• Ensure conformance to IATF 16949 quality management standards is sustained. Maintain process procedures and documentation as applicable. Identify and suggest changes to procedures as appropriate.
• Support and maintain manufacturing systems, MES applications, production technologies, network connectivity, workstations, and related hardware/software to ensure reliable plant operations.
• Troubleshoot, prioritize, and resolve system issues, incidents, service requests, and production-critical technology problems while communicating status and business impact to stakeholders.
• Install, configure, test, support, and monitor manufacturing systems, devices, interfaces, integrations, data flows, traceability systems, and reporting solutions.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and technology partners to implement system improvements, resolve technical issues, and support business operations.
• Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, support procedures, recovery plans, and required operational records.
• Provide user training, knowledge transfer, and ongoing support for manufacturing and business systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, waste reduction, data accuracy improvements, and digital transformation.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other departments to resolve business and technology challenges through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, MAFACT, MPS, Industry 4.0, and other operational excellence initiatives through technology solutions and system enhancements.
• Promote standardization, knowledge sharing, best practices, and continuous improvement across IT and business functions.
• Maintain accurate records and backup documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Respond professionally to employee concerns, suggestions, and operational feedback.
• Demonstrate respectful and professional conduct with co-workers, supervisors, and leadership.
• Attend required meetings and training sessions and contribute constructively.
• Complete all assigned trainings in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and business objectives.
• Hardware Support and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, and manufacturing workstation devices.
• Support, manage, and troubleshoot barcode printers, network printers, document scanners, and peripheral devices.
• Support handheld devices including barcode scanners, RF tag readers, card readers, and other shop-floor technology equipment.
• Software Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 11 and enterprise workstation management.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), shop-floor applications, and manufacturing system integrations.
• Experience participating in technology projects, system implementations, upgrades, migrations, and organizational change initiatives.
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity concepts.
