IT Product Owner - Ecommerce

Casey'sAnkeny, IA
$91,600 - $120,200Onsite

About The Position

This role is the dedicated Product Owner for the backend core systems at Casey's, specifically focusing on SAP Hybris, GraphQL, and the integration layer that connects ordering, loyalty, and payment. The Product Owner will partner with a Product Manager responsible for the broader ecommerce strategy and will be accountable for backlog health, stakeholder alignment, and the reliability of the systems powering digital transactions across 3,000+ stores, 19 states, and over 10 million Rewards members.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work-related experience is required.
  • At least five (5) years of direct work experience in product ownership.
  • Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet’s, etc.).
  • Backlog & delivery discipline. You’ve spent real time as a Product Owner — writing the stories engineers actually want to pick up, running a backlog that reflects the world as it is today (not last quarter), and keeping a scrum team out of the weeds. Jira and Confluence are second nature. Smartsheet’s doesn’t scare you. SAFe or scrum cadence is familiar territory.
  • Stakeholder & business partnership. Comfortable saying “not this sprint” without burning a bridge. You can write a status update an exec will actually read, run a business-readiness meeting without scripts, and translate between business goals and engineering reality without losing either side.
  • Technical & 3rd-party fluency. You’ve worked alongside engineers on a real ecommerce platform — Hybris, Commerce tools, SFCC, or similar — and you understand how APIs, integrations, and payment flows actually behave in production. You’ve held a vendor accountable to a roadmap and know what it takes to ship a real integration, not just contract one.
  • The Casey’s fit. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation. Detail oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously. Passionate about the needs of the guest. Team oriented. Good at both planning and tactical execution. Collaborative and open to new ideas.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified in Scrum Product Ownership, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Reliability of the ordering & checkout pipeline. Own the SAP Hybris order flow, payment routing through ACI, real-time inventory sync to stores, and guest checkout flows that just work.
  • Third-party integration ownership. Drive day-to-day relationships with vendors holding their roadmaps, contracts, and bug queues accountable to ours.
  • Backlog & sprint health. Story decomposition, acceptance criteria, definition of done, and sprint hygiene — the discipline that lets a scrum team ship clean work every two weeks instead of fighting fires.
  • Stakeholder partnership. Intake, alignment, and status comms with business owners across Marketing, Loyalty, Store Operations, and Finance. Run the readiness conversations that get a release across the line.
  • Production readiness. Pre-release reviews, integration signoffs, and the kind of vendor bug triage that protects guests on day one of a launch.
  • Process consistency. Work closely with other product owners to ensure consistency in execution and responsibilities within the agile delivery teams. Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • annual cash bonus based on company performance
  • annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
