About The Position

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a Manager of IT Project Management to lead and evolve the IT Project Management Office (PMO) and drive execution of critical technology initiatives supporting the laboratory’s mission. This role is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of complex IT programs, including enterprise systems, research enablement platforms, cybersecurity initiatives, and infrastructure modernization. The Manager will ensure disciplined execution, strong governance, and alignment between IT investments and SRNL’s strategic and operational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field (required)
  • 10+ years of IT project/program management experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing enterprise-level initiatives
  • Proven success delivering complex programs (e.g., ERP, cloud, research systems, cybersecurity)
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management
  • Strong strategic planning and portfolio management capabilities
  • Expertise in Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models
  • Financial acumen and budget management
  • Risk identification and mitigation at the enterprise level
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed organization

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA, Engineering, or related discipline) preferred
  • Experience operating within highly regulated or government environments preferred
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • PgMP, Agile, or SAFe certifications

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a high-performing IT PMO aligned to SRNL’s mission and strategic objectives
  • Define and implement standardized project governance, methodologies, and delivery frameworks
  • Partner with executive leadership to prioritize and sequence key IT investments
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery maturity, transparency, and accountability
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of IT programs and projects across the enterprise
  • Manage portfolio intake, prioritization, and capacity planning processes
  • Ensure delivery of initiatives on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Implement metrics and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into portfolio health
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, scientific programs, and operational stakeholders
  • Communicate program status, risks, and outcomes clearly to executive audiences
  • Facilitate alignment across cross-functional teams, including research, operations, and IT
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of project and program managers
  • Establish clear roles, expectations, and development paths within the PMO
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models to support evolving project demands
  • Enforce project governance standards and ensure adherence to organizational policies
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and constraints
  • Support compliance with federal, regulatory, and security requirements as applicable
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance
  • Partner with procurement and finance on vendor engagements and contract management
  • Ensure effective utilization of internal and external resources
