IT Manager

About The Position

We are seeking an IT Manager to bring structure and consistency to a technology environment that has grown organically — currently supported by a managed service provider and team members who have absorbed IT responsibilities alongside their primary roles. This is an individual contributor position with broad organizational impact, and the right person will see that as an opportunity, not a limitation. This role calls for someone who leads with curiosity before conclusions. You'll start by understanding how things actually work here — our systems, our people, our workflows — before making recommendations. We're not looking for someone who arrives with a playbook from their last company. We're looking for someone who can assess our current state honestly, earn trust quickly, and build something that fits us. You'll own the day-to-day management of our technology environment, with responsibility spanning provisioning, systems administration, security, and compliance. Major investments and new technology decisions are made collaboratively with the CEO on a case-by-case basis, so comfort operating without a defined budget — and an ability to build a clear business case when one is needed — is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5–8 years of experience in IT operations, technical support, or systems administration
  • Experience stepping into environments without formal IT infrastructure and building from the ground up
  • Strong technical knowledge of cloud platforms, hardware, software applications, and networking concepts
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint management and access control tools
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues and escalations independently
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach — you ask good questions, listen well, and build trust before making sweeping changes
  • Comfortable operating without a defined budget; able to build clear, concise business cases for technology investments
  • Strong communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and best practices
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals

Nice To Haves

  • IT certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, MCSE, or AWS are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough assessment of our current IT environment, including systems, tools, vendor relationships, and informal processes
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and risks and develop a prioritized roadmap of recommendations
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand how IT currently supports (or doesn't support) their work
  • Administer, provision, deploy, and optimize corporate IT systems and assets (Microsoft, Google, Slack, HubSpot, Nutshell)
  • Manage endpoint security, access control, and system monitoring to safeguard company data
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans
  • Execute updates to systems and equipment, ensuring alignment with current technology standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures
  • Manage IT service requests, incidents, and escalations, ensuring timely resolution
  • Enforce and regularly review IT policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Support compliance with regulatory, privacy, and security frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
  • Monitor threats and implement security protocols to protect company data
  • Manage the existing MSP relationship and evaluate its ongoing fit as the internal IT function matures
  • Manage relationships with other external technology vendors
  • Evaluate vendor performance against service expectations and surface consolidation or cost optimization opportunities to leadership
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and bring forward well-reasoned recommendations for leadership consideration
  • Lead IT-related projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery
  • Collaborate with other departments to align IT services with organizational needs
  • Support new hire onboarding/offboarding and oversee equipment procurement

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: $120,000-$150,000/year
  • Flexible vacation policy – take the time you need to recharge
  • Comprehensive health, vision & dental insurance
  • 401k with company contribution
  • Beautiful downtown Denver office with company-paid commuter benefits (parking or RTD EcoPass)
  • Opportunity for career progression with plenty of room for personal growth
