About The Position

The IT Manager is responsible for ensuring Aleut’s technology systems are reliable, secure, and resilient across all operations. This role leads IT strategy and hands-on management, overseeing system performance, incident response, cybersecurity, and business continuity. As the main escalation point for outages and incidents, the IT Manager resolves issues quickly, addresses root causes, and drives improvements to prevent recurrence. Success is measured by stable systems, minimal disruptions, lower risk, and an accountable IT team that supports business goals.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms. (e.g., Microsoft 365, AWS, Google Workspace).
  • Experience managing networking infrastructure (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and practices.
  • Exceptional multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Always exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proactively seek additional tasks and responsibilities when all assigned work is complete.
  • Display willingness to seek clarification and guidance when assigned new tasks or projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or experience that equals a degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Intact, salesforce, Jira) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Champion Aleut values: accountability, transparency and rigor.
  • Accountable for all IT outages, incidents, and service disruptions, regardless of root cause or delivery model (internal staff or vendors).
  • Serves as the final escalation point for critical issues, leading triage, resolution, and post-incident reviews.
  • Ensures incidents result in measurable improvements to resilience, controls, and operating procedures.
  • Establishes, enforces, and continuously improves operational standards for monitoring, patch management, backup and recovery, access controls, change management, configuration management, and documentation.
  • Holds staff and vendors accountable for adherence to defined standards; responsibility extends beyond policy creation to day-to-day enforcement and follow-through.
  • Ensures infrastructure and operational practices are audit-ready and support business continuity requirements.
  • Operates as a working manager, balancing people leadership with hands-on technical involvement in: Complex implementations, Critical incidents and outages, and High-risk changes or investigations
  • Maintains sufficient technical depth to personally assess risk, challenge assumptions, and make informed decisions.
  • Directly links IT performance to business risk, operational continuity, financial exposure, and reputational impact.
  • Provides leadership with clear visibility into infrastructure health, risks, and tradeoffs, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Partners with executive leadership and business stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with operational and strategic needs.
  • Leads infrastructure lifecycle planning, including modernization, technology refreshes, decommissioning, and proactive technical debt remediation.
  • Ensures disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity capabilities are tested, documented, and fit for purpose.
  • Oversees vendor relationships, solution selection, contract performance, and escalations beyond day-to-day coordination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
