About The Position

At Gateway Fiber, we connect people to Internet and Phone services in-town and in rural communities with fiber optic and fixed wireless technologies. As the IT Manager, you will play a vital role in the continued stability and growth of our organization through both engaging with our distributed SME Teams, DevOps Team, and GIS Team; and managing our IT Team with Desktop, Microsoft 365, Desktop/Laptop hardware support, and Enterprise Systems. In addition, the IT Manager will serve as second-in-command to the Director of Information Technology, providing operational leadership, strategic support, and departmental oversight as needed.

  • Desktop and Laptop Hardware Maintenance
  • Ability to lift, move, and connect cabling for laptop, desktop, and server systems
  • Ability to occasionally travel to remote office locations, including overnights.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies 24/7/365 except when on designated PTO.
  • Ability to strongly communicate and work with all levels of the organization
  • 3+ Years Team Management
  • 7+ Year Microsoft 365 Administration
  • 7+ Years Linux Administration
  • 7+ Year Desktop Support

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage distributed IT team based in multiple states responsible for desktop support, staff onboarding/offboarding, systems monitoring, alarming response & resolution, trending, capacity planning, systems deployment, software deployment, etc.
  • Contribute to policies and planning such as disaster recovery planning, OPSEC policies, etc
  • Implementation of security tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and manage ongoing IT Team training programs for internal team skill advancements.
  • Routine IT equipment ordering such as laptops, etc
  • Provisioning, configuration, and Management of Microsoft 365, Entra, Azure, Intune, etc in support of IT initiatives within the Enterprise across multiple Microsoft 365 tenants.
  • IT Team Ticketing SLA
  • Handle escalated tickets
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and trending to inform capacity planning.
  • Manage Enterprise Firewalls utilizing Meraki and FortiGate solutions
  • Manage Enterprise Systems Application provisioning and assignment.
  • Assist with Enterprise Systems Application planning and deployment.
  • Coordinate with DevOps and platform SME teams as needed
  • Manage multiple Azure, Hyper-V and VMWare clusters
  • Configuration and verification of systems backup and recovery
  • Other Enterprise IT Duties as assigned by supervisor
