About The Position

Maintains, develops, and protects Virco’s network and computer infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Three years of experience in managing a TCP/IP based network.
  • Microsoft Certification.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and interact with all levels of management.
  • Experience with maintaining Cisco based wide area networks.
  • Working knowledge or training in Office 365 management, Fortinet Firewall, and Citrix.
  • Must have knowledge in systems and appropriate applications Including Patch management, Backup, and Cyber Security software.
  • Must have proficient use of applicable office-related equipment.
  • Must be able to speak English.
  • Must display the applicable level of “Job-Critical Skills”: communications, judgment/decision making, safety, quality of work, initiative, teamwork, flexibility, leadership, service, motivation, planning/organizing, and job knowledge/skills development.
  • The ability to articulate complex ideas for non-tech staff/customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer Science degree.
  • SQL Server knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises IT Support Specialist personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations; schedules and approves overtime; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency with state and federal regulations as well as with all company policies and procedures to support a safe and productive work environment.
  • Analyzes and maintains hardware and software requirements and inventory.
  • Maintains accurate software and hardware Inventory.
  • Monitors and ensures Virco’s compliance with software licensing agreements.
  • Monitors Internet Firewalls, Cyber Security Software and anti-virus software for the security of computer systems.
  • Assists with maintaining Virco’s local area and wide-area networks.
  • Analyzes hardware and software requirements and supports management with the implementation of various projects and solutions.
  • Assists with management of telecommunication products, costs, and services.
  • Assists with management of vendor contracts and support.
  • Assists with defining and managing standards, policies, and procedures for network and computer usage, patching, and security.
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, and upgrades existing PC & MAC hardware and software.
  • Assists computer end-users in solving hardware and software problems.
  • Provides Help Desk support, bar code printing support, cellular & smartphone support, VoIP phone system support, and SAP and Windows backup support.
  • Performs and/or monitors server backups.
  • Configures and installs networking switches, routers, and Access Points.
  • Installs and maintains server applications such as Active Directory, Citrix, Telnet, VPN, Exchange, ePac, SharePoint, and Anti-virus.
  • Must be flexible to perform other duties as assigned and required by the department.
