About The Position

GRU IT is seeking a quick-learning professional who has the ability to successfully collaborate with others and thrive in an environment of continuous learning and improvement on a diverse portfolio of technical and operational work. Our team provides a broad range of services, from high-level architectural design and planning, all the way down to the detailed daily operational work needed to maintain our complex, multi-site, virtualized server, database, storage, and hybrid cloud infrastructure in an IP network needing expertise in implementing, administering, operating and supporting a hybrid cloud infrastructure with emphasis on Windows Server OS, Active Directory/DNS/DHCP, PKI, VMWare vSphere, HPE Alletra SAN and StoreOnce storage, Microsoft 365/Azure Tenant. This is a mid-level position that performs advanced, complex technical work in the public sector and utility industry. It involves a broad range of professional activities in support of a highly automated, multi-site enterprise computing environment for government, business and 24/7 control applications. There is an emphasis on team-oriented system planning and implementation within an ITIL framework. Work is performed remotely and on-site in a secure, regulated and audited environment. Work requires broad information technology skills and specialization in at least two of the following technical areas: networks, server, storage database management, security, data center implementation and disaster recovery, multi-tier enterprise application architectures, or client infrastructure. Incumbents in this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory and design responsibility, and from lower classes by its advanced technical skill in computer infrastructure implementation.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, or systems engineering. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if it meets the requirements of the department. This only applies to the educational requirements of the position.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification is required within six months of assignment date
Four (4) years of computer science or other information technology experience – including one (1) year as an IT Infrastructure, Network, Database, Enterprise System, Security, Application, or Client Administrator.

Responsibilities

Implements, configures, administers, monitors, and troubleshooting in conformance with established practices for an auditable enterprise-level IT environment for such activities as change management, preventative maintenance, and access control in one or more of the following areas: Infrastructure & Operations: A complex enterprise-level hybrid cloud and on premise physical and virtual server environment consisting of data centers, hardware, storage, operating systems, back-office/middleware applications.
Network: A complex enterprise-level network infrastructure environment consisting of VoIP, LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN, and cloud networking systems utilizing switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN technologies for remote access and site-to-site connectivity. Supports secure and reliable communication across on-premises, cloud, and remote enterprise locations.
Database Administration: A complex enterprise-level database environment at the physical and logical level, security, and performance, using Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and In-Memory Database (IMD) management systems.
Enterprise Systems/Applications/Development: A complex mission-critical enterprise-level multi-tier hybrid environment of servers, databases, applications, integration, APIS, web platforms, reports, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. Development encompasses design, code, test, deploy, and maintain secure applications, scripts, reports, APIs, and integrations using approved tools, source control, change management, and SDLC practices.
Client Infrastructure: A complex enterprise-level physical and virtual client environment consisting of endpoint devices, operating systems, cloud-based device management, endpoint security, identity integration, software deployment, lifecycle management, and front-office applications.
Security: Maintains enforcement of policies, procedures, technologies, and associated plans for IT security along with performance and oversight of penetration testing of all systems in order to identify system vulnerabilities.
General: Performs procedures, simulation, and actual events for disaster recovery to ensure effective protection and integrity of system and data assets, including operating systems, databases, network connections and protocols, servers\client device, security and software applications. Modify plans based on results of tests or incidents.
Provides business hours, after hours on-call, and after hours/weekend technical support for escalated client-side and server-side hardware, software, security, and network issues in a timely and customer-friendly manner.
Supports other IT teams throughout project, system, and application lifecycles within and ITIL framework for service delivery and continuous improvement.
Maintains technical documentation and training materials for educating end users and new IT staff
Participates in various IT work activities such as feasibility studies, capacity planning, performance analysis and fine-tuning, new technology evaluation, new systems and applications technical requirements specifications and review.
Must be available to work during emergency conditions.
