About The Position

The IT Infrastructure Analyst I is an entry-level position within the IT infrastructure team, focused on the foundational support of on-premise data center environments. This role is responsible for assisting with the management of hypervisors, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and the underlying physical hosts. Working under the guidance of senior administrators and engineers, the Analyst will gain hands-on experience with server hardware, virtualization software, and virtual networking. This position is designed for a motivated individual eager to build a career in infrastructure by learning core technologies and contributing to the stability and performance of critical IT systems. The role will also provide exposure to hybrid environments, linking on-premise infrastructure with foundational cloud services.This position is located in Lafayette, LA and with a hybrid office/work-from-home, with 2 - 3 days per week expected in-office.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience in an IT support role (such as help desk or desktop support) or equivalent internship/experience.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent combination of education and foundational IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+).
  • A basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • A strong desire to learn and a demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
  • Ability to follow structured troubleshooting steps and procedures to identify and resolve basic technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, following guidance from senior staff.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • This is a local position with some flexibility for remote/hybrid work and may require occasional travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with or an interest in foundational cloud computing concepts (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in an on-call rotation, after-hours work, and travel to data centers as needed is required.
  • Assist senior team members with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of physical server hardware.
  • Support the virtualized environment by performing tasks such as creating virtual machines, applying resource settings, and monitoring system health.
  • Help manage the virtual desktop infrastructure, including deploying virtual desktops and assisting end-users with connectivity issues.
  • Under supervision, assist with the configuration of virtual networking components, including virtual switches and network segmentation.
  • Participate in the regular patching and updating of hypervisor hosts, management software, and server firmware.
  • Contribute to the documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Monitor system alerts and logs, and escalate potential issues to senior team members for resolution.
  • Assist with foundational tasks related to connecting on-premise systems to public cloud services.
  • Adhere strictly to established procedures for change management, incident response, and service requests.
  • Provide foundational support for backup and disaster recovery operations.
