About The Position

TAK Broadband is a leading end-to-end U.S. fiber broadband network construction contractor operating in 42 states. The company builds networks and connects communities to new valuable digital opportunities, offering comprehensive service solutions from construction to drops to fulfillment. TAK's ecosystem of partners includes engineering teams, distributors, and over 100 qualified construction crews, 300 experienced bury drop crews, and 700 professional technicians. The IT Intern will support the Help Desk team in the corporate office in Sioux Falls, SD, gaining hands-on IT experience in a supportive team environment. This role involves assisting the IT team in providing technical support and troubleshooting to users who encounter problems with their hardware, software, or network devices. This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and grow knowledge in a real-world setting. This is not a remote role; the intern must report to the corporate office.

Requirements

  • Interest in IT, computer systems, or a related field (enrollment in a degree program is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and basic computer applications like Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to learn troubleshooting techniques and ask questions
  • Good communication skills and a helpful, customer-focused attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Dependable and eager to grow in a team environment
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the help desk team in responding to employee requests for basic IT support via phone, email, or ticketing system
  • Help troubleshoot common computer, printer, and software issues
  • Support users by providing simple instructions on how to use company systems and software
  • Learn to escalate more complex problems to experienced technicians
  • Help with setup, installation, or updates of computers and software under supervision
  • Assist in keeping IT equipment and inventory organized and documented
  • Learn and follow IT policies, security practices, and procedures
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and small projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
