The IT Generalist II role involves administering departmental servers, applications, storage, and authentication services to support instructional, research, and administrative operations. This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance of supported systems and applications. The IT Generalist II will monitor system availability, capacity, performance, and security, responding to identified issues and participating in technology lifecycle planning. The role also includes troubleshooting complex system, application, access, and infrastructure problems, and ensuring compliance with university security standards. Additionally, the position manages and supports departmental computing devices and networked workstations, deploys and maintains operating systems and applications using centralized management tools, and provides technical consultation to users. The IT Generalist II will design, develop, and implement technical solutions, create scripts and automations, and support departmental cybersecurity practices. This role also requires creating and maintaining documentation for IT systems, configurations, and user instructions, maintaining IT asset information, and staying current with IT developments.
