About The Position

The Workstation and Client Architect position within 3M's IT End User Computing (EUC) organization is responsible for leading and ensuring a secure, standardized, and scalable Windows client environment across the enterprise. This role involves determining and owning the client architecture for workstation platforms, endpoint management, and security controls, with the goal of reducing complexity, risk, and operational cost. The architect will align workstation strategy with enterprise architecture and security standards to enhance compliance and audit readiness. Collaboration with security, infrastructure, operations, and application teams is crucial to deliver integrated, consistent, and enterprise-ready solutions. The position also entails leading the definition and implementation of client technology strategies, standards, and roadmaps to proactively modernize the client environment. Furthermore, the architect will provide architectural expertise to engineering and operations teams to improve delivery quality, resilience, and reliability, ultimately protecting the enterprise, supporting digital workplace initiatives, and maximizing the return on investment in client platforms and security capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Ten (10) years of experience in IT end user computing or IT infrastructure environment in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and ensure a secure, standardized, and scalable Windows client environment across the enterprise as part of the 3M IT End User Computing (EUC) organization
  • Determine and own the client architecture for workstation platforms, endpoint management, and security controls
  • Implement solutions that reduce complexity, risk, and operational cost
  • Determine and align workstation strategy with enterprise architecture and security standards
  • Strengthen compliance and audit readiness
  • Lead close collaboration with security, infrastructure, operations, and application teams to ensure integrated, consistent, and enterprise‑ready solutions
  • Lead the definition and implementation of client technology strategies, standards, and roadmaps
  • Proactively modernize the client environment
  • Support and guide engineering and operations teams with architectural expertise
  • Improve delivery quality, resilience, and reliability
  • Play an essential role in protecting the enterprise
  • Support digital workplace initiatives
  • Maximize the return on investment in client platforms and security capabilities
  • Comply with corporate policies, procedures and security standards while performing assigned duties
  • Contribute to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement
