About The Position

Join Mizuho as the IT Equity Technology Lead! Mizuho is seeking an experienced IT Equity Technology Lead to join our New York office, with primary responsibility for Equity Cash, Equity Finance and Equity Derivatives technology supporting the Americas region. This role is a senior Front Office IT leadership position accountable for the end-to-end technology platforms, applications, development, and production support for the Equity business. The IT Equity Technology Lead acts as the primary point of escalation and accountability for Equity Front Office technology in New York, serving as a proxy for the broader IT organization to the business. The role partners closely with New York based Equity trading desks, COOs, Operations, Risk, and other Front Office IT towers, ensuring delivery of both “run the bank” operational stability and “change the bank” strategic initiatives, while coordinating with regional and global stakeholders as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in financial services technology, with significant experience supporting Equity Cash, Equity Finance and/or Equity Derivatives
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing Front Office IT teams supporting trading desks
  • Strong understanding of equity trading platforms, execution workflows, and front to back processes
  • Experience delivering technology in highly regulated, high availability trading environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior business and technology stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full lifecycle of Equity Front Office technology for the Americas, including platforms, applications, integrations, development, and production support for Equity Cash and Derivatives.
  • Serve as the single point of escalation for New York-based Equity Front Office users on technology issues, incidents, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure technology solutions support trading workflows, execution, risk management, and post-trade processes with high availability and performance.
  • Accountable for the execution and delivery of all Equity technology initiatives originating from or impacting the New York Equity business, including regulatory commitments, strategic growth programs, and desk-driven enhancements.
  • Balance Change-the-Bank delivery with Run-the-Bank operational excellence, ensuring stability during periods of transformation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in system resilience, scalability, automation, and trader experience.
  • Ensure robust Level 1, 2, and 3 production support coverage for New York Equity trading desks.
  • Lead incident management and escalation, including root-cause analysis and preventative remediation, in partnership with Infrastructure, Operations, and Controls teams.
  • Ensure platforms and integrations meet defined SLAs, operational standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure Equity technology platforms comply with regulatory, audit, SOX, and internal control requirements applicable to the Americas.
  • Partner with Governance, Controls, Risk Technology, and Compliance teams on audits, regulatory exams, and remediation activities.
  • Enforce adherence to enterprise SDLC, security, and architectural standards.
  • Lead and develop cross-functional teams covering Equity production support, development, projects, and data.
  • Promote strong collaboration across Front Office IT towers, including Markets Operations, Front Office Development, Risk Technology, and Market Data Services.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within the New York Equity technology organization.
  • Partner closely with New York-based Equity business stakeholders, COOs, and senior management to prioritize demand and align technology delivery with business strategy.
  • Manage vendor relationships supporting Equity platforms, including onboarding, performance oversight, and upgrade coordination.
  • Coordinate vendor-led changes and system upgrades impacting Equity trading and post-trade environments.
