About The Position

Saputo Inc. is seeking an IT Director, PMO – Portfolio and Project Management, for an existing opportunity within our organization. The IT Director PMO Project & Portfolio Management leads Saputo’s IT portfolio planning and delivery oversight across a global portfolio of initiatives. This role ensures that projects are aligned to business priorities, sequenced effectively, and executed with strong discipline, transparency, and focus on value delivery. This leader manages a team of Project Managers and Portfolio Managers responsible for pipeline management, portfolio visibility, and delivery oversight. The role also provides structured support and coaching to IT project leads outside the PMO to strengthen project shaping, estimation, governance, and execution across the organization. This position is accountable for building a high-performing project and portfolio management practice within IT PMO, including internal and contract project managers, while developing broader delivery capability across IT. The role continuously evolves project and portfolio management practices to meet changing business needs and to support Saputo’s highest-value and most complex initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in IT project and portfolio management, PMO leadership, or enterprise delivery oversight
  • Experience in global CPG or other complex manufacturing environments
  • Proven success leading enterprise project portfolios and complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience shaping and delivering IT initiatives from concept through execution using structured project delivery approaches
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing project managers and portfolio managers
  • Strong financial acumen related to portfolio planning, forecasting, and investment decision support
  • Experience operating in structured project lifecycle environments and large-scale enterprise programs
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and executive influencing skills
  • For candidates based in Quebec: fluency in both French and English is required, as the role involves regular communication with a diverse group of stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead the intake of IT demand across divisions and functions, ensuring consistent capture, triage, and visibility of initiatives.
  • Drive a structured pipeline to assess, categorize, and advance initiatives through initiation and evaluation stages.
  • Own the end-to-end pipeline view, including forecasting, prioritization readiness, and overall pipeline health.
  • Lead annual and in-year portfolio planning cycles to align initiatives with business strategy, funding, and resource capacity.
  • Facilitate prioritization discussions with IT and business stakeholders, enabling informed trade-off decisions and clear execution priorities.
  • Own portfolio-level reporting, including pipeline status, project health, risks, dependencies, and key decisions required.
  • Provide clear, decision-oriented insights to IT leadership and executives.
  • Track portfolio performance and maintain transparency on delivery confidence, constraints, and bottlenecks.
  • Provide oversight across projects to improve predictability, manage risk, and maintain alignment to commitments.
  • Identify cross-project dependencies, risks, and resource conflicts, and drive resolution or escalation as needed.
  • Promote consistent delivery discipline across portfolios in alignment with PMO standards established by the governance function.
  • Lead a team that provides project management capability for Saputo’s most critical and complex initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on support and coaching to project leads outside the PMO in areas such as planning, governance cadence, status reporting, and risk and issue management.
  • Promote right-sized project management support by assigning PMs to high-risk, high-complexity initiatives while enabling capable project leads elsewhere.
  • Provide portfolio-level financial visibility across budget, forecast, and actuals to support decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment between approved initiatives, funding, and expected business outcomes.
  • Act as a central point of coordination across IT leadership, business stakeholders, and delivery teams.
  • Facilitate portfolio forums, review sessions, and executive updates.
  • Ensure alignment among IT Business Partners, IT leaders, and delivery teams on priorities, sequencing, and execution approach.
  • Partner with the PMO Governance, Methods, and Tools function to drive adoption of standards and continuously improve delivery practices.
  • Provide feedback from delivery teams to improve processes, templates, and tools, while ownership remains with the peer governance function.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Portfolio Managers and Project Managers.
  • Build organizational capability in project delivery, portfolio management, and stakeholder engagement across IT.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, delivery excellence, and business alignment.
