About The Position

MCG Architecture is seeking a hands-on IT Desktop Support Specialist – Tier 1 / Tier 2 to support its Irvine, California office. This position is ideal for an IT professional who enjoys working directly with users, troubleshooting technology issues, setting up computers and accounts, maintaining software, resolving network connectivity issues, and keeping a professional office technology environment operating efficiently. Experience supporting BIM, Revit, Autodesk, or other architecture/design software is preferred but NOT required. MCG is primarily looking for a strong IT support professional who has the technical aptitude and interest to learn the technology used within an architecture and design environment. This is a full-time, in-office position where you will become a trusted technology resource for architects, designers, project managers, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional desktop support, help desk, IT support, or technical support experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops.
  • Experience setting up new users, computers, applications, and peripherals.
  • Experience troubleshooting network and internet connectivity.
  • Experience installing software, patches, updates, and operating-system upgrades.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN.
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple support requests.
  • Ability to work independently and know when an issue should be escalated.
  • Willingness to work full-time in the Irvine office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop and end-user technical support.
  • Set up and configure new employee computers, workstations, user accounts, email, software, and related technology.
  • Manage IT-related employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Troubleshoot Windows desktop and laptop hardware and software issues.
  • Diagnose LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, internet, and general network connectivity problems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop applications.
  • Deploy software patches, security updates, operating-system updates, and application upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot printers, monitors, docking stations, conference-room technology, and other peripherals.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and related tools.
  • Reset passwords and troubleshoot login, access, and user-permission issues.
  • Assist with user accounts through Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar environments.
  • Maintain computers throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, replacement, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain hardware, software, licensing, and IT asset records.
  • Document technical problems and solutions.
  • Escalate more complex infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, or application issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with IT projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments.
  • Provide responsive and professional technical support to employees throughout the office.
  • Assisting users with basic Revit and BIM-related technical issues.
  • Supporting Autodesk application installation, configuration, updates, and licensing.
  • Troubleshooting application performance, plug-ins, connectivity, and user-access issues.
  • Assisting with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 environments.
  • Supporting Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, and other architecture/design applications.
  • Working with BIM and design professionals to identify whether an issue is related to hardware, software, network connectivity, permissions, or the application itself.
  • Helping maintain reliable workstations capable of supporting resource-intensive design applications.
