About The Position

Your Role Are you an IT Specialist with a passion for design? As an IT Technician, you will support daily IT operations while also collaborating with our teams on creative and technical initiatives—including video production, marketing proposals, programming, graphics, and more. This hybrid role allows you to apply your technical expertise while contributing to innovative, design-driven projects across the firm. What You Will Do Communicate effectively with all levels of staff—from everyday users to senior leadership and Principals. Identify and implement the most efficient solutions to reduce downtime and maintain productivity. Provide first- and second‑level support for Windows and Mac systems, along with Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook and Teams. Install, maintain, and support desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals across the regional IT environment. Install and troubleshoot primary 2D/3D design tools including Revit, 3ds Max, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Produce videos and voice‑over content for internal and external use. Apply experience in programming, AI tools, image creation, marketing‑related materials, and more Support remote users working within virtual desktop infrastructure. Manage user accounts and access permissions within Active Directory. Image laptops and desktops for deployment, maintenance, and end‑of‑life replacement cycles. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and system configurations. Follow vendor‑recommended procedures for maintenance and repairs. Provide support for audiovisual systems and web conferencing setups. Perform special projects assigned by IT leadership. Stay current with evolving desktop, software, and networking technologies used at Gensler, continually expanding your knowledge. Build strong rapport with staff to understand their technical comfort level and provide tailored support. Demonstrate professionalism, ethics, and adherence to software licensing requirements. Multitask effectively in a high‑volume, fast-moving environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of relevant IT experience; experience in the architecture or engineering industry is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10; Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook); macOS; and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience creating videos using Adobe Premiere or comparable software.
  • Experience producing voice‑over content using Adobe Audition or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Understanding of basic networking principles and desktop hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Ability to disconnect, lift, and move PCs and monitors (up to 50 lbs), including maneuvering in tight spaces for cabling.
  • Familiarity with iPhone and Android mobile devices.
  • Punctual, professional, and well‑presented demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, time‑management, and service‑delivery skills.
  • Willingness to support occasional off-hours or weekend system upgrades and initiatives.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A+ Certification or equivalent desktop support credential.
  • Certifications in Cisco, Windows Desktop/Server, Mac, VMware, or ITIL.
  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Autodesk products (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Experience supporting macOS in a corporate setting.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams or multi‑office environments.
