About The Position

The IT Data Specialist - Entry Level position offers an opportunity to begin a career in the IT field, supporting the Federal Government on large and complex technical litigation support matters. This role provides an introduction to eDiscovery best practices, focusing on verifying client requests, performing quality checks on database loads and deliverables, and utilizing applications such as Relativity Processing, NUIX, and various copying and encryption software. On-the-job training is a key component, making it suitable for aspiring IT professionals seeking to enhance their technical skills. The specialist will gain exposure to diverse data forms and learn to manage large datasets through intricate workflows. Opportunities for developing scripting capabilities (e.g., PERL, Python) will also be provided. This position is based onsite in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

  • Some experience with the applications being supported.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred; preferably in the computer science or information management/technology fields.
  • Technical certification valued.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic job knowledge of systems and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education.
  • Typically has 3 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of file manipulation applications and experience with LAW, IPRO, ICONECT, CONCORDANCE, and Relativity.
  • Knowledge of Government’s IT environment, including office automation networks, PC and server based applications.
  • Coursework in technical disciplines (programming/scripting, systems administration, and database management).
  • Ability to perform quality control analysis and report any issues with the data.
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to perform tasks accurately and quickly.
  • Customer-focused, congenial, professional attitude for working on site with government clients.
  • eDiscovery experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, similar to the duties and responsibilities described.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of a Senior Data Specialist.
  • Gain hands-on experience in conversion services, quality control, and database indexing.
  • Create and modify files for upload into COTS products.
  • Perform individual file conversion in support of electronic file processing.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data loading, manipulation, and conversion by performing and documenting quality and accuracy checks.
  • Perform basic tasks related to exporting data from contractor and DOJ databases.
