About The Position

As a member of CIBC’s team, the IT Cloud Project Manager is a seasoned expert responsible for overseeing the day-to-day project activities of complex projects of a tactical nature, ensuring project control procedures and policies are adhered to as per technology’s project performance standards. The role works with minimal direction, applying deep knowledge in their field of expertise to manage the delivery of project management best practices and processes including reporting, project planning, and support activities. The IT Cloud Project Manager uses significant latitude in determining objectives and leads employees in the development of analytical approaches, while establishing and maintaining client, senior management, and project manager relationships. In addition, the role provides status updates and progress reports to project stakeholders to manage expectations related to scope and timeline constraints. Requirements

  • At least 4+ years of experience in project management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry, with a proven track record of managing cross-portfolio projects in a matrix environment.
  • Experienced with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Prior datacenter migration and transformation experience is essential for success in this role, particularly in the analysis and decommissioning of legacy infrastructure.
  • Proficient with project management and issue management tools such as Planview, ServiceNow, and JIRA.
  • Well-versed in financial tracking for both legacy systems and cloud environments, including financial optimization techniques.
  • Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Outline project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, and costs.
  • Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project.
  • Assess the efficiency of the practices and procedures used by a team and provide guidance that will continuously improve the project plan.
  • Develop trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
  • Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services.
  • Coach and mentor your teams as you work toward a common goal.
  • Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.
  • Proactively identify risks to the project schedule and find ways to mitigate them.
  • Monitor milestones; ensure they are completed according to timelines and budgets.
  • Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.
  • Share ideas, build consensus, and write with impact.
  • Coordinating the end-to-end delivery of application and infrastructure migration initiatives, including server migration and decommissioning activities.
  • Tracking milestones and financials, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement in delivery practices.
  • Provide clear and concise status updates and progress reports to stakeholders, ensuring effective management of expectations regarding scope, timelines, and business value realization.
