About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Analyst at the Vice President (C13) level to join our OTC Derivatives Settlements team in Mississauga, Canada. This is a critical role that bridges business strategy and technology delivery within a fast-paced, high-volume derivatives environment. Requirements

  • Deep expertise in OTC Derivatives products and their full trade lifecycle, with a strong focus on settlements (cash settlement, physical settlement, netting, fails management).
  • Solid understanding of industry infrastructure: DTCC/DTCC Deriv/SERV, MarkitWire, SWIFT, and related platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting OTC derivatives (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, Basel III).
  • Exceptional ability to analyze large, complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, or equivalent); experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Personable, approachable, and skilled at building trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions and drive consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or related field; MBA or CFA designation is an asset.
  • 6-10 years in financial services, with at least 5 years focused on OTC Derivatives in a Business Analyst or related capacity.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP, Prince2) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary business analyst for OTC Derivatives Settlements, translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable functional specifications.
  • Partner with front office, operations, technology, and risk teams to analyze settlement workflows, identify gaps, and drive process improvements.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to capture end-to-end business needs.
  • Develop detailed business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, and process flow diagrams.
  • Analyze trade lifecycle events across OTC derivative products (Interest Rate Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, FX Derivatives, Equity Derivatives, etc.) to support settlement accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, data quality issues, and system gaps; propose and champion solutions.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define acceptance criteria and support UAT execution and sign-off.
  • Track project milestones, manage deliverables, and communicate progress clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for OTC settlement processes, industry standards (ISDA, DTCC, MarkitWire), and regulatory requirements.
