About The Position

This position supports the Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes (AEO) by developing, maintaining, and improving business intelligence, reporting, and data analytics solutions used for operational decision-making, program evaluation, and continuous improvement. The role is responsible for working with data from multiple internal and external sources to produce accurate, timely, and meaningful dashboards, reports, and decision support systems for a variety of stakeholders for the Office of Medical Education (OME). The position performs a combination of business intelligence development, data preparation, and analytical work. Responsibilities include querying and transforming data, cleaning and validating data sets, supporting ETL/ELT and reporting workflows, providing end-to-end analytics solutions as needed, developing and enhancing dashboards and visualizations, and assisting with the design of reporting structures that improve access to reliable information. This role also helps translate business needs into technical solutions by working with stakeholders to define requirements, identify data sources, and deliver reporting products that are functional, sustainable, and user-friendly for access to actionable information. Work in this position requires knowledge of reporting tools, relational databases, data transformation processes, and data visualization principles, as well as the ability to analyze information, troubleshoot data issues, and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 2 year of professional experience in reporting, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Experience working with data cleaning, validation, and reporting processes.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, or other data products for end users.
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs weekly updates to dashboards and reports by incorporating new student assessments, evaluation, and related operational data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and currency.
  • Validates incoming data, troubleshoots discrepancies, and applies established quality checks to maintain confidence in reporting outputs.
  • Monitors recurring data refresh and reporting processes to identify issues, resolve errors, and ensure timely delivery of accurate information to stakeholders.
  • Reviews source data for consistency and completeness and escalates or resolves data quality concerns as appropriate.
  • Designs, builds, and implements new dashboards and reports, including developing prototypes, as new data sources become available or reporting needs change.
  • Translates business and reporting needs into scalable dashboard and reporting solutions using business intelligence tools and underlying data structures.
  • Designs and implements monthly updates and enhancements to existing dashboards as requested by the Data Visualization and Reporting Manager.
  • Improves report usability, performance, visual clarity, and functionality based on stakeholder feedback, changing business needs, and evolving data availability.
  • Develops visualizations, filters, calculations, and supporting datasets that enable users to explore data effectively and answer operational and strategic questions.
  • Ensures dashboard and report designs follow best practices for usability, clarity, accessibility, and appropriate interpretation of data.
  • Apply a diverse array of data analysis techniques—such as quantitative, qualitative, predictive, benchmarking, and diagnostic methods—tailoring the approach to effectively address specific business needs and challenges
  • Transform raw data into meaningful insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Apply appropriate statistical methods to analyze data, validate findings, and support data-driven recommendations.
  • Aggregates, cleans, transforms, and analyzes data from multiple sources to identify trends, generate actionable insights, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Uses SQL, Python, and related tools to prepare data for analysis and reporting, automate repeatable processes, and improve the efficiency and consistency of data workflows
  • Supports the development and maintenance of queries, views, reporting tables, and other data structures used for dashboarding, operational reporting, and analysis.
  • Performs ad hoc and recurring analysis to answer business questions, summarize findings, and support departmental initiatives.
  • Assists in identifying opportunities to streamline manual data preparation and reporting tasks through automation, standardization, and improved workflow design.
  • As needed, conducts statistical and machine learning techniques including classification, regression, clustering, multivariate methods, A/B testing and utilizes causal inference to answer business questions.
  • Collaborates with leadership, end users, and subject matter experts to determine reporting needs, data requirements, data sources, business rules, security considerations, and desired output formats.
  • Translates stakeholder questions and operational needs into technical specifications for dashboards, reports, and data products.
  • Assists users in interpreting data, understanding report functionality, and applying findings to support planning, monitoring, & decision-making, utilizing storytelling as a vehicle to make analytics & insight deliverables accessible and memorable.
  • Partners with stakeholders to refine metrics, define reporting logic, and ensure reporting solutions align with business needs and organizational priorities.
  • Designs data visualizations to support multiple phases of the curriculum and other office units, ensuring outputs are clear, meaningful, and appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Implements and maintains row-level security (where required), including management of security tables for student and faculty/staff access.
  • Conducts testing to ensure that FERPA data is protected and scoped to least privilege necessary.
  • For public facing dashboards/reports, ensures that personally identifiable information (PII) has been removed or redacted.
  • Supports data governance and quality assurance efforts by maintaining consistency in report logic, definitions, and data presentation across reporting products.
  • Conducts testing and validation of dashboards, reports, and underlying data to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
  • Maintains user guides and/or built in user instructions for dashboard navigation, filters, etc.
  • Creates and updates standard operating procedures related to data ingestion, data cleaning, and dashboard/report updates.
  • Provides user support and contributes to training and knowledge-sharing for both technical and non-technical audiences.
