About The Position

Powerex Corp. is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Business Analyst for a 1-year position within its IT team, focusing on project and application delivery. This role involves supporting IT projects end-to-end, gathering and documenting business requirements, and contributing to system testing and troubleshooting. The analyst will work on both custom-built solutions and vendor-based platforms, collaborating with a team of Business Analysts to improve testing, documentation, requirements, deployments, and operational reporting. The position offers the possibility of extension based on performance and team fit. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, fast learner, and proactive self-starter with one to four years of experience in business analysis or IT project delivery.

Requirements

  • A degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • One to four years of relevant experience in business analysis, IT project delivery, or a related area, spanning junior to intermediate levels.
  • Hands-on experience across IT project lifecycles, including gathering requirements, testing, and troubleshooting systems.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working directly with developers to solve business problems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or other data retrieval/manipulation technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience in analyzing and resolving business or technical challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach to working within a team.
  • A 'can-do' and curious attitude towards owning and solving problems.
  • Must be located in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • A background check and references will be required for the position.

  • Experience developing solutions, working with developers, or managing configurations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT projects end to end.
  • Independently gather and document business requirements.
  • Contribute to system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Work on IT projects and support existing applications, including custom-built solutions and vendor-based platforms.
  • Assist with testing, documentation, business requirements, deployments, and operational reporting improvements.
  • Deepen understanding of business processes to identify requirements and create well-aligned solutions.
  • Gain hands-on experience with project management tasks, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and running Scrum meetings.
  • Master the fundamentals of testing, requirements gathering, and documentation for application development.
  • Develop troubleshooting skills to resolve operational issues and support critical systems.
  • Act as a key interface between business users and the development team.
  • Strengthen ability to collect, analyze, document, and manage business requirements.
  • Participate in after-hours support.
