About The Position

Forrest T. Jones & Company, Inc., and its affiliates (“FTJ”), provide insurance and insurance related services to clients, corporations, employers and individuals. These services include providing benefits through innovative life and health insurance plans, financial services, and customized insurance products for niche markets. The Business Analyst (BA) interacts with IT and business roles to elicit requirements and shape demand into work items for application development teams. The BA will become a subject matter expert on multiple applications supported by the IT group. Works with developers and business contacts to ensure that requirements and acceptance criteria are captured, documented and demonstrated throughout the application development life cycle. Ensures operational acceptance and ongoing evaluation of continuous improvement of applications.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in substantially similar position.
  • 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within a software development organization.
  • Strong analytical skills are a must.
  • Must be able to create business process workflows.
  • Ability to liaise with Development, business owners and internal customers.

Nice To Haves

  • working knowledge of SQL queries and data analysis.

  • Laws, policies, procedures, or governance relevant to cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Become deeply familiar with business capabilities, functions, and processes, including roles and tools supporting business.
  • Lead &/or participate in business process analysis sessions with internal clients to determine requirements.
  • Elicit and translate business functional, and technical requirements into work items used by application development teams.
  • Lead requirements refinement sessions to ensure a full understanding of deliverables for the team and stakeholders involved in the application development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure testing outcomes align with acceptance criteria and business intent.
  • Continuously review requirements to ensure that new or modified software conforms to enterprise standards and suggest modifications to conform to said standards as needed.
  • Interact with Customers performing triage of break fix items to identify appropriate development resource(s) after observing or duplicating errors in test environments and providing this information to the team.
  • Collaborate with project management on scope management and controls.
