This role requires full-time on-site presence. The opportunity We are looking for a Broadcast and IT Systems Specialist to support the studio, content creation, and presentation groups with technical issues as well as help implement groundbreaking technologies across our sites. From the virtualization of services to the implementation of video-over-IP and beyond, to the introduction of centralized and automated workflows, your input will impact CBC/Radio Canada across the country. Every day your hands-on knowledge, your growing expertise, your problem-solving skills and your ability to translate technical issues will be called into play as you work closely with clients facing issues with content creation, backend systems, studios and control rooms. Your patience, sense of urgency and responsiveness will ensure that our content is prepped, scheduled and on the air or digitally available.

Requirements

  • General understanding and knowledge of computers, networking, IP infrastructure and maintenance of equipment, systems and relevant software technologies.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server Systems, MacOS and Linux.
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Broadcast, or a related field.
  • Skilled at communicating effectively with internal partners, relaying your opinions with sensitivity.
  • Ability to listen and understand perspectives.
  • Ability to expertly analyze and synthesize information and document technical specifications.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and demanding environment of a production centre, in carrying out its duties effectively under tight deadlines while providing quality work and maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
  • Empathetic and patient.
  • Understanding of the user perspective and priority is providing rapid, stable solutions and support.
  • Guided by a sense of urgency.

  • Exposure to managing backend systems, databases and remote support of server systems.
  • Interest in learning more about audio, video and TV & Radio Broadcast networks.

Responsibilities

  • Support the studio, content creation, and presentation groups with technical issues.
  • Implement groundbreaking technologies across our sites.
  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, update and modify equipment, software, systems and facilities ensuring their proper operating condition and optimal performance.
  • Contribute ideas, develop methods and make recommendations to overcome problems, achieve desired results and permit better utilization of equipment.
  • Proactively and in-the-moment solve problems and ensure the users can engage with new functionalities, new tools and conduct their day-to-day work seamlessly.
  • Work closely with vendor and internal partners across the organization.
