About The Position

The Digital and IT team supports over 6,500 colleagues and volunteers across more than 180 locations nationally. This role is key to ensuring IT equipment is refurbished, repaired, prepared, and redeployed to the highest standards, helping colleagues receive reliable technology when they need it. The IT Asset Engineer will play an important role in reducing waste, improving stock availability, maintaining compliance, and supporting excellent customer service across the organization. The role requires strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. It offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment where one can make a real impact while continuing to develop skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience repairing, refurbishing, and troubleshooting IT equipment, including laptops, smartphones, and other end-user devices.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records within an ITSM, ITAM, inventory, or stock management system.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, including equipment deployment, recovery, refurbishment, and disposal processes.
  • Ability to diagnose hardware issues, replace faulty components, and return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of security, compliance, and quality standards when handling IT assets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to interpret and analyze data to support decision making and process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality services and improve operational efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management tools, ITIL practices, or ISO27001 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Refurbishment, repair, preparation, and redeployment of IT equipment, ensuring colleagues receive secure, reliable, and fully functional devices.
  • Working closely with the wider Digital and IT teams to support asset management, stock control, and equipment lifecycle processes.
  • Maintaining accurate records within an ITSM, ITAM, inventory, or stock management system.
  • Diagnosing hardware issues, replacing faulty components, and returning equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  • Handling IT assets with excellent attention to detail and understanding of security, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Interpreting and analyzing data using Microsoft Excel to support decision-making and process improvements.
  • Managing multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
  • Collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality services and improve operational efficiency.
