About The Position

The IT Apps Designer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing application software, including client, server, and middleware. This role involves creating software designs at the component level based on application architecture and detailed business requirements, as well as designing and building algorithms and data structures. The position also includes responsibilities for application performance monitoring and tuning, developing strategies for monitoring, preventive maintenance, and disaster recovery of applications, and serving as a technical expert in at least one application within a portfolio. The IT Apps Designer will ensure that solution designs meet requirements for scalability, performance, and quality in accordance with negotiated service level agreements, and will participate in the assessment and resolution of software defects. Additionally, this role will assist project management with work breakdown structures, project plans, and skills required for application development and implementation, and participate in design reviews and technical evaluations. The IT Apps Designer will also be involved in the review, business case development, and implementation of software development tools, methodologies, and standards, and must understand IS Security measures and current standards, practices, and technology. The role may also involve serving as a liaison with suppliers for sustaining activities, assisting with the evaluation and recommendations for purchased software packages and supporting services, and mentoring junior staff on building and maintaining application systems. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Six years of experience as an IT professional with broad experience across multiple IT disciplines required.
  • Expertise in one or more software languages.
  • Experience with system lifecycle methodologies.
  • Experience with software development tools and standards.
  • Experience working in teams.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Experience with Capital Harness Systems (CHS).
  • Experience with Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
  • Experience identifying tasks which require automation.
  • Experience explaining complex procedures.
  • Experience writing proposals and making presentations to internal customers and professional peers.
  • Experience providing technical direction for application development teams.
  • Must pass credit history check.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) exposure is desired.
  • Proficiency with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) desired.

Responsibilities
