About The Position

The Manager, IT Applications is responsible for managing one of the Epic Application teams in Abbott's Cancer Diagnostics division. This position performs a key role in leading their team in the delivery of technology for critical business processes, integration of acquisitions, and partnering with enterprise architecture to plan, design, and deliver an highly-customized and innovative global IT eco-system. The candidate must collaborate with business and technology teams to maximize the value of the platform by balancing unique functional requirements with the design principle for common configuration solutions to optimize risk, cost, and speed of delivery. Additionally, this role is also responsible for the professional development of the analysts supporting the applications, providing feedback and opportunities for education, growth, and leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; or High School Degree/General Education Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
5+ years of experience in information technology or product/project management experience.
3+ years of experience in large and complex implementations related to assigned platform and using program management and software development lifecycle (SDLC) project management methodologies.
3+ years of experience directly or indirectly leading a technology team or cross functional project team on implementation of a technology solution.
Demonstrated project delivery involving complex business workflows or system architectures.
Professional working knowledge of a variety of software and hardware solutions; multi-vendor environments and hybrid environment of on premise, co-located, and cloud-based services.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Certification in at least one Epic admin-level application certifications.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar or relevant role.
Applicable certifications/proficiencies with preference given to Epic RTE, Epic Referrals, Epic Prelude, Epic Cadence
Professional working knowledge in Health Care or Biotechnology.
Professional working knowledge with agile delivery methodologies.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with product owners and business partners across multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.
Plan, design, and deliver programs to integrate products and processes from acquisitions onto assigned enterprise platform(s).
Propose delivery priorities with multiple business and/or business solution teams.
Support a cross-functional enterprise platform governance board to establish, recommend, and adjust priorities with changing business needs.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture to position the platform within the overall Abbott enterprise architecture and strategy, identifying, and managing integration dependencies and plans.
Ensure adequate system monitoring and reporting is established for assigned platform(s); measure the performance of platforms and participate in incident management activities for critical incidents, outages, or other performance issues.
Guide the evaluations of new IT solutions, make product selections, and lead implementations.
Oversee a process for intaking, prioritizing, and delivering incremental releases of functionality.
Closely work with process owners from various departments to build and maintain process workflows scalable across the business/various business units.
Accomplish results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize, and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
