As an IT Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining the stability, efficiency, and security of Caterpillar’s IT infrastructure while helping design, build, deploy, and support modern technology solutions. This role offers hands‑on opportunities to work with automation and robotics systems, leverage AI technologies, and support advanced automated warehouse operations. Your work will directly support Caterpillar’s ongoing efforts in sustainability, digital transformation, and delivering impactful solutions worldwide.

Requirements

  • Technical Excellence: Ability to solve complex technical challenges and maintain current knowledge of evolving technologies.
  • Technology Advising: Strong communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to advise customers on products, technologies, and solutions. Capable of analyzing and documenting business requirements for system or software projects.
  • Hardware Infrastructure: Understanding of computer architecture, systems programming, and hardware integration across platforms.
  • System Testing: Ability to design, plan, and execute system testing strategies to ensure software and infrastructure quality.
  • Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of operating systems, database management, communication protocols, and development tools.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to anticipate, diagnose, and resolve issues across hardware, software, and applications.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Experience creating technical documentation and user guides, and ensuring adherence to IT security policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with iPads and handheld scanners is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of network components and protocols (e.g., LAN, wireless).
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any technical related degree.
  • 2–5 years of experience in IT systems analysis, infrastructure support, or similar roles—preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong time‑management skills, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in shifting priorities and workloads.
  • Environmental Considerations: Commitment to a safety‑first mindset.
  • Ability to lift and move small IT equipment (e.g., laptops, network devices), typically under 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working at elevated heights, such as on large equipment or in lifts.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to large machinery, welding and grinding operations, heavy overhead lifts, robotics, and loud noise.
  • Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as steel‑toe shoes and head protection.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize IT systems—including servers, PCs, mobile devices, and networks—to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Respond promptly to IT service needs in alignment with IT Service Management (ITSM) principles.
  • Evaluate current systems and design improvements that follow industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, middleware applications, and machine configurations.
  • Resolve recurring issues, implement long‑term fixes, and address IT and OT cybersecurity challenges.
  • Support may be required during off‑shifts or weekends to ensure uninterrupted operations. This role participates in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation.
  • Manage hardware and software updates, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and system migrations to improve efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align IT solutions with business needs.
  • Participate in project planning and execution while demonstrating strong teamwork and communication skills.
