About The Position

Highline Building Supplies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Administrator to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive professional eager to launch their career in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with our senior team to maintain system performance, ensure security protocols are followed, and support the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure across our retail and warehouse locations.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of OS administration (Windows Server/Linux) and core networking (DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, Firewalls, and VPNs).
  • Familiarity with or a strong desire to learn virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
  • A logical, calm approach to troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues in a retail environment.
  • Ability to provide friendly, clear technical support to non-technical team members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (Associate degree with relevant certifications also considered).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Odoo (functional or technical) is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage robust security measures, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), endpoint protection, and team-wide phishing awareness training.
  • Continuously monitor systems for suspicious activity and take timely, decisive action to mitigate potential risks.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure all software, security patches, and firmware updates are consistently maintained.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of warehouse and showroom technology, including POS systems, barcode scanners, and industrial printers.
  • Resolve technical issues impacting order processing, billing, or inventory flow to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine administration across Windows and Linux environments, focusing on stability and user access management.
  • Support cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Support the functional use of Odoo, assisting team members with workflows in Inventory, Sales, and POS modules.
  • Continuously optimize Odoo configurations to support faster checkout and more efficient inventory handling.
  • Assist with SQL database queries and ensure daily backup strategies are executed successfully.
  • Set up and manage an internal ticketing/helpdesk system to streamline IT support requests.
  • Develop simple automation scripts using PowerShell or Python to streamline repetitive daily tasks.
  • Maintain a reliable knowledge base of system settings, hardware inventory, and troubleshooting steps.
