About The Position

This role involves performing General Ledger functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The analyst will identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues, research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts, and document technical accounting memos. Responsibilities include identifying and executing appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures. The analyst will partner with Finance to determine accounting implications of transactions and perform analytical analyses for material business decisions. This position also assists with internal and external financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results, drafting and reviewing SEC documents, and management review reports to ensure quality and strict timelines. Support for internal and external auditors, evaluation of current accounting practices, and research/documentation related to new accounting standards and external reporting requirements are also key. The role provides direction to a team of individuals with similar functional responsibility. The work policy is Hybrid: 3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote, requiring the ability to report to the listed local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Accountant, Operations Analyst, Corporate Material Broker, or related role.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Executing internal audit controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance and financial procedures.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results and reviewing SEC documentation.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Performing General Ledger functions.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Technical accounting, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Financial systems, including SAP, Oracle, or other ERP system for accounting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Five (5) years of experience with: Financial risk analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform General Ledger functions.
  • Assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues.
  • Research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts and document technical accounting memos.
  • Identify and execute appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures.
  • Partner with Finance to determine accounting implications of transactions and perform analytical analyses to utilize when making all material business decisions.
  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results, drafting and performing first level review of SEC documents, and management review reports to ensure quality and strict timelines.
  • Support requests of internal and external auditors to ensure open matters are resolved timely.
  • Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Research, interpret, and draft documentation related to new accounting standards and brainstorm how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements.
  • Provide direction to a team of individuals with similar functional responsibility.
