About The Position

The Stakeholder Relations Branch within the Capital Planning Sector supports the Ministry of Education and Childcare by providing timely, accurate, and strategic information to senior leadership. The branch plays a critical role in issues management, stakeholder engagement, and executive communications related to ministry capital planning priorities. Working closely with internal partners, Communications, and central agencies, the division helps ensure informed decision making, consistent messaging, and strong relationships with stakeholders across the education system.

Requirements

  • University degree with Minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365 products.
  • Equivalences may be considered: Additional related education considered in lieu of experience on a one-for-one basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS).
  • Experience working with executive leaders and senior leadership.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write different types of communication like Letters, Memos, Briefing Notes
  • Project management and change management experience.
  • Current/Previous Experience working within an ADMO would be a strong asset.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of: Government of Alberta (GoA) structure and processes, including strategic business plans, decision-making processes and practices, related policies, and regulation and legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
  • Stakeholder Relations Management skills
  • Strong Political Acumen to deal with incoming priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate issues and information for the Capital Planning Sector, including urgent and emerging matters, to support effective decision making by senior leadership.
  • Track, review, and manage deliverables such as briefings, correspondence, action requests (ARs), reports, presentations, and other information products to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize briefings, correspondence, and AR materials for the Minister, Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Ministers, Executive Director, and senior leadership, ensuring appropriate tone, format, and alignment with ministry priorities.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex information clearly and concisely to support planning, policy alignment, and executive decision making.
  • Identify, research, and monitor emerging issues and trends, escalating risks as required and providing recommendations and strategic advice to the Stakeholder Relations Manager.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Minister’s Office, Executive Correspondence Unit, ADMOs, Communications, and other ministries, to coordinate responses and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Ensure communications and information products comply with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines, including Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIA/POPA) requirements.
  • Develop, document, and maintain processes and tools, such as standard operating procedures and guidance materials, to support consistent and high quality briefing and correspondence practices across the sector.
  • Provide issues management and problem solving support for politically sensitive and high profile matters, balancing confidentiality, fiscal integrity, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with Communications to review and contribute to key messages, speaking notes, news releases, presentations, and other public facing materials.
  • Support and lead stakeholder engagement activities, including planning and organizing capital planning engagement sessions, meetings, workshops, and related materials.
