About The Position

The ISE Specialist authorizes expenses, performs accounting and human resource functions related to international service employees (ISEs) returning to their homeland on annual leave (AL). Advises divisions on international service employees in the field and annual leave issues. Authorizes annual leave visits to parents/children and the purchase of air tickets for ISEs and assists, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant successful work experience required.
  • Relevant successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of academic requirement.
  • Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference, church structure and organization,
  • Able to apply appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances.
  • Advanced command of English language skills including proficiency in verbal and written forms.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to details.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook software)
  • High developed skills in reading, writing, calculating, communicating, computing and interpersonal relations.
  • Strong decision-making ability and interpersonal skills essential due to high potential for loss to church of both goodwill and finances as a result of poor decision-making
  • Answer verbal or written inquiries in pleasant manner; deal tactfully and effectively with own department; effectively handle confidential information/situations at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and submits BMSOC agenda items.
  • Conveys information to ISEs regarding the annual leave process and related allowances they will receive.
  • Authorizes and manages ticket purchases, travel destinations, and ticket settlements for ISEs.
  • Serves as liaison between all ISE’s and the GC from the time they first arrive in the field.
  • Answers questions by e-mail, or letter concerning current service and leave benefits. Assists with special needs or requests.
  • Exercises judgment in applying annual leave policy and evaluates requests for exceptions that go to supervisor and/or MBSOC.
  • Listens to and encourages ISEs experiencing problems and adjustment difficulties; presents needs to supervisor if necessary.
  • Maintains database of international service employees.
  • Authorizes and processes reimbursements, language studies, attendance at Mission Institute, etc., for eligible ISEs in the field.
  • Calculates AL allowances for ISEs.
  • Prepares and processes journal vouchers (divisions, institutions, etc.).
  • Monitors annual leave activities related to ISEs and assists host divisions as needed.
  • Makes travel arrangements and deposits allowances upon division request.
  • Processes appointee allowances for newborns and newly married spouses of ISEs while in the field.
  • Serves as backup to other members of the Annual Leave team, as arranged by mentor/team lead.
  • Participates in cross-training for other IPRS positions, as arranged by supervisor.
  • Ensures all documents and information are filed according to established procedures.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
