About The Position

The Irrigation Worker assists Irrigation Technicians in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of underground sprinkler/irrigation systems. Drives from site-to-site. Shifts may exceed 8 hours per day depending on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules. Performs work at various locations, including events such as football games. Requires overtime, sometimes on short notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One (1) year of underground electric and hydraulic irrigation system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.
• Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with university policies.
• Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
• Must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to operate a variety of job-related tools, equipment, and machinery used in groundskeeping operations, including chemical supplies.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry groundskeeping equipment for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and temperatures.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a recognized horticultural training program.
