About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Technician to diagnose, repair, and manage complex residential irrigation systems on high-end properties. Our projects are not typical residential systems. Many include commercial-scale infrastructure, large mainlines, 40+ zones, and thousands of emitters. Success in this role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to plan work effectively before arriving on site. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must be able to independently troubleshoot, plan, and execute irrigation work without constant supervision. While irrigation is the primary focus, this role supports a collaborative field team and will assist maintenance and construction operations as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional residential irrigation experience (repair and installation)
  • Proven ability to plan and execute jobs efficiently with minimal oversight
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across valves, piping, wiring, and controllers
  • Experience working on large or complex irrigation systems preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans and diagrams
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low-voltage landscape lighting troubleshooting or installation
  • Experience with multiple controller brands (Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Rachio, etc.)
  • Backflow knowledge or certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex residential irrigation systems (leaks, valves, wiring, pressure issues, mainline failures, controllers)
  • Plan jobs in advance by identifying required materials, tools, and scope to ensure efficient execution in the field
  • Minimize downtime and inefficiencies by avoiding unnecessary supply runs through proper preparation
  • Install, retrofit, and upgrade irrigation systems, including drip, spray, and smart controller components
  • Program, maintain, and audit controllers (Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro, Rachio, and other WiFi-enabled systems)
  • Perform seasonal adjustments and water-efficiency assessments; recommend system improvements
  • Interpret irrigation plans, zone maps, and wiring diagrams for large, complex systems
  • Work independently in the field and make real-time decisions based on site conditions
  • Accurately document work performed, materials used, and labor hours
  • Communicate job status and system conditions with supervisors and team members
  • Support maintenance and construction teams as needed to maintain workflow and efficiency
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely while maintaining a clean, organized workspace
  • Follow all company safety standards and industry best practices
