The Building Services Department is seeking (1) an Irrigation Technician to join the already awesome team, taking the Building Services Department to the next level of excellence!

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Three years of related experience, such as landscape irrigation, installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation and/or sprinkler systems, or related plumbing equipment and pumps.
A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of operating lightweight standard trenching and digging machinery (e.g., trenchers, excavators, and ditchers).
Knowledge of work-related health and safety regulations.
Knowledge of Xeriscape techniques.
Effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings (e.g. blueprints).

Responsibilities

Perform tasks related to irrigation, including maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.
Replace, repair, troubleshoot, and adjust faulty irrigation components, including controllers, valves, heads, main and lateral lines, belts, switches, and contacts.
Operate lightweight standard trenching and digging machinery.
Guide and oversee the work of others if related support is needed (e.g., Groundkeepers).
Conduct wet checks and monitor irrigation system performance in designated areas regularly.
Operate timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers.
Program irrigation controllers as needed.
Install new drip irrigation and turf sprinkler systems as needed.
Perform scheduled shutoffs for campus event requests.
Recognize water deficiencies in turf areas and make the necessary corrections.
Order, purchase, and inventory supplies.
Operate lightweight standard trenching and digging machinery (e.g., Walk behind a Ditch Witch, Stand on min-skid steer).
Drive to any of the GSU campuses to perform the work.
Assist in maintenance activities as required.
Perform physical activity (e.g., heavy lifting, pushing, pulling objects over 50 pounds).
Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned and attend meetings associated with the scope of work.
