About The Position

The Irrigation Technician assists with routine park maintenance and helps keep parks, athletic fields, facilities, and public spaces safe and inviting. The role includes inspecting parks and athletic areas for needed repairs, assisting with construction projects, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, and operating and maintaining equipment used in daily operations. The technician completes and submits reports to supervision and helps set up special events and sports tournaments. Other related duties may be assigned.

The work takes place outdoors in seasonal temperatures and involves bending, lifting, and moving equipment. The employee may be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals while maintaining parks. The role requires traveling between worksites and may include weekend and evening work as required.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate with other employees in the work group and respond to public questions about services or specific projects.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and equipment manuals.
• Skill in operating hand tools and equipment such as mowers, tractors, gas-powered trimmers, saws, and other gardening and maintenance tools.
• Ability to sit, stand, and transport oneself from building to building.
• Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites.
• Ability to bend, lift, and move equipment to complete work or make repairs.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• CDL preferred.
