About The Position

Apple Mountain Golf Resort, managed by GreatLIFE Golf, is seeking a full-time, hourly Irrigation Technician to join their Agronomy team. This role is responsible for the programming, operation, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation systems. The technician will report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent. This position offers a full benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision coverage, Paid Time Off, and Holiday Pay. The pay rate is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Frequently able to lift 50 pounds of weight through the work day and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
  • Work extended hours during golf season.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in golf course irrigation with Rain Bird is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system including the lake re-circulation system and water features.
  • Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
  • Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools in order to minimize down time.
  • Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements.
  • Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, and computer and irrigation control wire.
  • Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the Head Irrigation Technician or Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
  • Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
  • Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
  • Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly.
  • Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valves and pump stations.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
