Shift Details: Monday 40 hours/week - 6:45am-3:30pm Location: Church Headquarters and Surrounding Area/Buildings This is a Full-time Benefitted Position Compensation: $26-$32/hour depending on education and experience. Please Note: This position does not qualify for students required to work on the Ensign College Campus.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, landscape architecture, landscape horticulture or related field or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in irrigation
Understanding of the routine care and maintenance of irrigation systems
Basic knowledge of 110 volt electricity
Understanding of the daily maintenance of compressors, mini excavators, trenchers, skid steers, and equipment needed to install, repair, or upgrade irrigation systems
General plant identification knowledge
General knowledge of operation and maintenance of grounds equipment
General knowledge of landscape water management
Ability to operate mechanical lifts and work from heights for extended periods of time
Must be able to work In a professional manner with others as well as alone without constant supervision.
Must have a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team.
Must pass all required safety and equipment certifications and trainings.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods of time.
Must be able to fit into confined spaces and maneuver flower beds and trees without causing damage.
Must be able to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds.
Must be able to team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
Must have a valid driver's license
Requires physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power tools and equipment
Must have at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.
Must be able to understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety. Also, must be capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.
Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and adjust to seasonal needs.
Must be able to safely climb ladders and be able to work outside for extended periods of time from a ladder, lift, or scaffold
Must be able to fit into confined spaces such as manholes, crawl spaces, attics, etc.
Must have sufficient hearing to properly troubleshoot and diagnose equipment

Nice To Haves

Training as an Irrigation Technician or Water Auditor and experience with centralized irrigation controllers preferred
Familiarity with construction site PPE and Safety procedures preferred
May require DOT certification

Responsibilities

Oversee, train and lead volunteers, temporary employees, and regular team members.
Translate team-wide assignments into individual goals and tasks, staying within the scope of the assignment.
Follow a consistent process to regularly review team and individual performance, and counsel with team supervisor and other team members on how to best make directional changes needed to achieve goals.
Follow applicable training programs and individual performance management goals that develop and utilize employees' talents and abilities in order to continuously improve team and individual performance.
Perform regular system maintenance by: Inspecting and repairing sprinkler heads, pipes, valves and other components Programming watering schedules utilizing central control systems Winterizing systems to prevent damage during freezing weather Troubleshoot and repair irrigation electrical components and systems including solenoids, connectors, 2-wire and conventional, flow sensors/master valves, hydrometers, and 24 volt controllers Retrofit older systems with newer technology to improve water efficiency and reduce operating costs
Implement the design of new irrigation systems, including preparing the job site and managing quality control
Operate and perform regular maintenance of air compressors, mini excavators, trenchers, skidsteers, and other heavy equipment needed to install, repair, or upgrade irrigation systems
Train grounds staff during formal and informal training sessions to perform regular system maintenance, best management practices, and water conservation principles.
Collect data to assess irrigation efficiency and distribution uniformity
Work with irrigation supervisor and manager as well as building managers, contractors, and other personnel to make repair recommendations and implement solutions
Performs snow removal duties as assigned
Performs other grounds responsibilities as assigned
Keep current with new products, technologies, service offerings, and best practices.
Attend educational trainings and seminars as allowed.
