About The Position

Makena is seeking an Irrigation Mechanic 2 to join the Landscape department. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Requirements

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience.
Experience in golf course irrigation installation and repair.
Experience in operating golf course irrigation equipment.
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

Waters greens, tees and fairways.
Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
Repairs greens with seeds or plugs of new grass when needed.
Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod and seeds green, tees and fairways.
Operates gas, electric and diesel equipment in hauling materials and removing debris to maintain the golf course in the best possible condition according to the Company’s standards.
Clean and maintain filters in field including, sprinklers, valves, pumps, pressure reducing valves bi-weekly or as instructed.
Installing additional Irrigation on course and landscape.
Maintaining and repairing landscape irrigation.
Assist with overseeing and maintaining well pumps, well motors, north and south base pump stations, small water pumps for buildings and water features.
Clean and maintain irrigation parts room and equipment.
Maintain & treat lakes every month
Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; and cleans landscape beds on golf holes, clubhouse and entry.
Returns, cleans, fuels up all equipment and returns to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance and wash down area after.
Hand-waters and fertilizes tees, greens, fairways, roughs, landscape (trees, plants, groundcovers) collars, approaches, lawns, and nurseries, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, spot sprays chemicals on landscaped and turf areas.
Assist with setup of practice facilities and breakdown as needed.
Prepare and grade areas for planting with hand tools.
Planting seed, sod and turf sprigs, landscaping plants, applying mulch or other materials.
Assist Irrigation Technician 1 with any major repairs, projects.
May be asked to perform duties of the Section Worker in the event of environmental concerns, equipment issues or activities on property.
Must be able to stay later than usual on some occasions to assist in major repairs or as climatic conditions dictate.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
