About The Position

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is seeking an experienced Irrigation Lead Foreman to oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial irrigation systems across campus. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with commercial irrigation installation and maintenance, the ability to independently diagnose and repair irrigation issues, and the technical knowledge to design and install smaller irrigation projects. This position requires a highly dependable, self-motivated individual who can work independently, lead irrigation projects, and ensure campus irrigation systems operate efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Current Texas irrigation technician or irrigation inspector license required.
  • Three or more years of commercial irrigation installation and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial irrigation systems and components.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems independently.
  • Experience with irrigation controllers, valves, pumps, wiring, rotors, spray heads, drip irrigation, backflow systems, and related equipment.
  • Ability to design and install small irrigation systems or modifications from start to finish.
  • Ability to calculate and understand water usage, flow rates, irrigation run times, and system capacity.
  • Ability to read irrigation plans, blueprints, and site drawings.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead a crew and effectively communicate work assignments and expectations.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing irrigation systems in a large commercial, municipal, institutional, athletic, or campus environment.
  • Experience with water conservation practices and irrigation efficiency.
  • Knowledge of irrigation scheduling and weather-based irrigation systems.
  • Experience with central irrigation control systems.
  • Additional irrigation, landscape, or water-management certifications.
  • Experience estimating materials and labor for small irrigation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform commercial irrigation installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Diagnose irrigation system problems and determine appropriate repairs without direct supervision.
  • Troubleshoot controllers, valves, pumps, wiring, heads, rotors, drip systems, sensors, and other irrigation components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential system failures before they become major issues.
  • Design and install small irrigation projects and system modifications throughout campus, including determining appropriate materials, layouts, zones, and equipment.
  • Read and interpret irrigation plans, drawings, site plans, and specifications.
  • Calculate and evaluate water usage, flow rates, precipitation rates, run times, and irrigation requirements to improve system efficiency.
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers based on seasonal conditions, plant requirements, weather, and water conservation goals.
  • Perform irrigation audits and make recommendations for improving system performance and reducing water waste.
  • Identify leaks, broken or inefficient components, pressure issues, coverage problems, and other system deficiencies.
  • Coordinate and prioritize irrigation work across campus based on operational needs.
  • Lead and direct irrigation staff or crew members as needed, providing instruction and quality control.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, system changes, materials, and water-use information.
  • Work with campus departments, contractors, and other facilities personnel when irrigation work impacts their operations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
  • Respond to irrigation emergencies and system failures as needed.
