The company is seeking an experienced Ironworker for a turnaround position in Kingsport, TN. The Ironworker position works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman. Assigned duties are according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Turnaround work is available, and per diem is offered for those who qualify.

Requirements

High school or equivalent
One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
Knowledge of ironworker tools and how to use them
Rigging skills including wire rope slings
Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

Works as a member of a crew to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures and frameworks.
Off loads deliveries of structural material from the fabricator.
Sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
Fastens steel members to cable of hoist.
Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.
Guides member or rides on member in order to guide it into position.
Pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
Forces members into final position.
Aligns holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member.
Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members.
Bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted.
Cuts steel members to make alterations.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
