About The Position

The Ironworker / Structural Welder erects, installs, aligns, connects, and welds structural steel components for industrial, commercial, and construction projects. The role performs structural steel erection, rigging, fitting, and welding in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, company standards, and safety requirements. Work includes steel structures and components such as columns, beams, pipe racks, trusses, supports, platforms, handrails, and stairways. The position requires interpreting drawings and welding procedures, working at elevated heights, and collaborating with a team in industrial and construction environments.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience as an Ironworker, Structural Welder, or related craft professional in industrial, petrochemical, refinery, commercial, or construction environments.
Demonstrated experience in structural steel erection and structural welding.
Ability to pass a company-approved structural welding test.
Experience working at elevated heights and using fall protection equipment.
Knowledge of structural steel erection and fabrication practices.
Ability to perform structural welding in accordance with approved welding procedures.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, welding symbols, and construction drawings.
Knowledge of rigging practices, load handling, and crane signaling.
Ability to safely use welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment.
Familiarity with structural steel installation, alignment, and connection methods.
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and fall protection requirements.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and identify and resolve field installation issues.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check, if required.
Current Basic Plus, TWIC Card, and site-specific credentials as required by the customer.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and structural steel; work at elevated heights using required fall protection; and work in confined spaces when required.
Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
Sufficient visual acuity to perform welding and inspection-related tasks.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and industrial environments and wear required personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

Erect, align, install, and secure structural steel and related components, including columns, beams, pipe racks, trusses, supports, platforms, handrails, stairways, and miscellaneous steel.
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications.
Perform structural welding using SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux Core), MIG, and other approved processes as required.
Fit, tack, and weld structural steel components according to approved welding procedures and quality requirements.
Inspect welds for quality and compliance with project specifications.
Perform layout, measuring, cutting, fitting, burning, and fabrication of steel components.
Operate grinders, cutting torches, magnetic drills, and other fabrication equipment.
Perform rigging duties and move materials safely using chokers, slings, chains, and other rigging equipment.
Signal crane operators during lifting and placement of structural steel members.
Install anchor bolts, support systems, grating, decking, ladders, and handrails.
Verify alignment, plumbness, and elevation of structural steel during installation.
Perform field modifications and repairs as necessary.
Assist with steel fabrication and assembly operations.
Complete work in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Participate in daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
