About The Position

The Field Welder position is expected to produce welds that support the installation of exterior and interior wall panels for commercial buildings. This role involves working at heights with several elevated platforms and requires the ability to maneuver units into position for installation and anchor them. The welder will also fabricate or alter parts using various tools and assist the foreman with proper layout for work.

Requirements

  • Current AWS D1. 1 SMAW 3G and AWS D1. 1 SMAW 4G certifications.
  • 1+ year experience with stick welding.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE.
  • Full dexterity of hands and arms.
  • Ability to see objects close and far away.
  • Ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing.
  • Must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance.
  • Must not be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
  • Adhere to the Company’s safety policy and, at all times, will use all required Personal Protective Equipment provided to employee.
  • Represent the Company in a positive, professional manner with fellow employees and within the communities served.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS D1. 5 SMAW 3G and 4G certifications preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum.
  • Field carpentry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welds using stick and mig processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Maneuver units into position for installation and anchor the units.
  • Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
  • Assist foreman with proper layout for work to be put in place.
  • Accurately measure and read height, width, length, and other proportions with a tape measure.
  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
  • Work at heights with several elevated platforms.
  • Keep work area clean and productive.
  • Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
  • Set up and safely use company equipment.
  • Maintain welding certification through maintenance logs and supervisor observation.
