About The Position

The IRB Coordinator will provide regulatory expertise, guidance and administrative support to the NYU Institutional Review Board reviewing human subject research protocols. Attain and maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of human subject research protections and IRB regulations. Works with researchers, the IRB Chairperson(s) and members, the Human Research Compliance Director, IRB staff and other University offices to ensure the rights and welfare of participants in the human research activities conducted by the University's faculty, scientists, and students. Advises researchers in adhering to IRB requirements, federal and state regulations, state law, University policies, and the ethical principles that apply to human research projects. The incumbent will Assist the chair and committee in the Investigation and resolution of any noncompliance issues. Works with the IRB Chairperson and other IRB members by providing professional analytical and technical assistance while interacting closely with researchers from University schools and departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social and/or behavioral science
  • 2+ years Experience in a university setting
  • At least two years of direct IRB experience
  • Has a CIP or eligible to obtain CIP within one year of attaining position.
  • Excellent communication, client relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines and follow specific guidelines and SOPs.
  • Knowledge of standard office software and research administration systems.
  • Cognizant of federal regulations governing human subjects research.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree degree in biomedical, health, social sciences or related field is required
  • Master's degree in a health care or regulatory related field desired.
  • Certification as an IRB Professional (CIP) or within one year of employment preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience directly related to human subject research or 2-4 years of experience in a related area required.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and guidelines
  • Certified IRB Professional
  • Experience with grants and contracts
  • Previous experience as an IRB member
  • Familiarity with CAYUSE and/or other ERA (Electronic Research Administration) platforms.
