About The Position

The IR Technologist at Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center, Cardiovascular - Vascular Imaging department, is responsible for utilizing AIDET for patient communication, preparing patients and equipment for IR procedures, ensuring safety protocols are followed, maintaining medical imaging records, and assisting leadership with regulatory compliance. This role involves direct patient care, technical procedures, and adherence to infection control, drug, and radiation policies.

Requirements

  • Must be able to utilize AIDET for patient communication.
  • Must be able to instruct and communicate with patients and families regarding procedures.
  • Must be able to assess patients' ability to tolerate exams.
  • Must be able to prepare patients and areas for IR procedures.
  • Must be able to position patients and adjust immobilization devices.
  • Must be able to move equipment into specified positions.
  • Must be able to adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Must adhere to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques.
  • Must maintain medical imaging records.
  • Must comply with procedures, rules, and regulations of OSHA, TJC, TDH and ACR.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others.
  • Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patients’ family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patients’ ability to tolerate exam.
  • Prepares patient or area for IR procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques.
  • Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
  • Assists leadership in maintaining all required policies, procedures, standards, and records for applicable governmental, regulatory, and accrediting organizations by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations of the OSHA, TJC, TDH and ACR.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
