IR/Cath Lab Tech - Per Diem Days
About The Position
The IR/Cath Lab Tech is responsible for assisting the Physician during procedures, analyzing hemodynamics and EKG, removing sheaths, and using sterile technique to set up the laboratory. This role involves assisting physicians during interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization procedures, preparing procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies, and scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring cases. The technician will operate imaging equipment, prepare contrast media and devices, monitor patient vital signs, ensure radiation safety, maintain sterile technique, document procedural information, assist with patient care, clean and restock equipment, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with the procedural team.
Requirements
- Associates degree required.
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- ARRT and/or RCIS certification required.
- Previous IR and Cath Lab experience in hospital setting required.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization procedures
- Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness and sterility
- Scrub, circulate, or monitor cases in accordance with role assignment and department needs
- Operate imaging equipment (fluoroscopy, X‑ray, hemodynamic monitoring systems) during procedures
- Prepare contrast media, catheters, wires, and interventional devices
- Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures and report changes promptly
- Ensure proper radiation safety practices for patients, physicians, and staff
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control and safety standards
- Document procedural information accurately in the electronic health record
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and post‑procedure care and transport
- Clean, restock, and maintain procedural equipment and inventory
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations following department protocols
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the procedural team
