About The Position

This position is part of an eligibility pool for positions that may arise during the 2026-2027 school year. Applications and interviews are for consideration to be placed in the eligibility pool. iQ Academy, Los Angeles delivers online/virtual home-based instruction to TK-12 students in California, using the K12, inc. curriculum and teaching via a Class Connect Program. Virtual schools are new models in public education that combine proven educational strategies with technology. Teachers and staff need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and grammar skills
  • Flexible schedule
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity
  • Ability to work collaboratively on teams
  • Prior experience working with at-risk youth
  • Ability to relate to new and returning student needs and provide support
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software
  • Experience moderating web meetings for small and large groups

Responsibilities

  • Support the onboarding of new students and parents, including hosting "Keeping Warm" sessions, providing email outreach, completing and logging Welcome calls, ensuring student/Learning Coach/parent accounts are active, setting up the online school correctly, hosting live orientation sessions, and hosting help desks.
  • Develop Student Support plans and hold regular conferences with assigned students and families.
  • Support a virtual caseload of struggling students.
  • Meet with students virtually to offer individualized support in 1-1 or small-group sessions for students, parents, and learning coaches.
  • Provide social-emotional resources to students, families, and staff as needed.
  • Provide MKV/Homeless resources and supports, as needed.
  • Create and maintain resources for students.
  • Create and facilitate school assemblies.
  • Assist with social media content, the LC App, and school newsletter, as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation on each student.
  • Use all available methods of contact and document contact attempts as directed by supervisor.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, guidance counselors, and administration regarding student needs, success, etc.
  • Use data to inform all decisions and monitor student progress.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings as needed.
  • Proctor state/federal test, in-person, as assigned.
  • Participate in school-wide events and activities, as assigned.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
