About The Position

The IPS Plant Team Lead provides leadership to manufacturing employees within the Manufacturing Operations department. This role is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and clean work environment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen concepts, and achieving manufacturing results by effectively communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising outcomes. The Team Lead coaches employees by coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures, while also maintaining staff through orientation and training. They ensure workflow by monitoring processes, setting variables, observing controls and equipment, and facilitating corrections. Additionally, the role involves maintaining equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new techniques, providing manufacturing information, promoting continuous improvement through Kaizen and 5S, utilizing Tier Boards for production tracking and visual management, and assisting in the resolution of personnel problems. The Team Lead also participates in training and self-improvement, seeks cost reductions, and fosters cooperation between departments, crews, and shifts. Related tasks as requested by the supervisor are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, safety equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established safety and manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Promotes Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Kaizen concepts to develop a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations along with planning, monitoring and appraising results.
  • Coaches’ employees by coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensures operation of equipment is maintained by calling for repairs and evaluating new opportunities and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Promotes continuous improvement through Kaizen Activities and 5S.
  • Utilizes Tier Boards for production tracking, visual management and problem identification.
  • Assists in the resolution of personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action.
  • Participates in training and self-improvement opportunities that are available to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Seeks out and implements cost reductions.
  • Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments, crews and shifts.
  • Related tasks as requested by supervisor.
