About The Position

ISL is seeking a Project Manager to specialize in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) based out of their Edmonton office. ISL is a company of over 600 employees delivering infrastructure projects with a focus on minimizing environmental impacts and maximizing community benefits. The IPD Team at ISL fosters collaboration and innovation, having successfully applied the IPD contract type to globally recognized projects. This role involves advancing IPD both internally and externally, leading projects from concept to completion, and championing business development within the Alberta market.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project management in the construction industry specifically supporting infrastructure projects.
  • Evidence that you implemented lead design standards or other change management principles.
  • Experience leading infrastructure projects such municipal and educational new builds is desired.
  • Strong business development capabilities that enable you to acquire new IPD projects for within the Alberta region.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different contract models available and the ability to advise clients on what best meets their value proposition.
  • Exceptional workshop development and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to be assertive yet professional and facilitate project meetings with a variety of diverse partners with sometimes different motivations.
  • A willingness to learn and unlearn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) & other Collaborative projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with client goals, team values, and commercial objectives.
  • Champion business development by identifying, pursuing, and securing new project opportunities and long-term partnerships in the Alberta market.
  • Facilitate and contribute to proposal development, including writing compelling narratives, assembling pursuit teams, and coordinating submission logistics.
  • Manage project planning, scheduling, and execution across all phases and disciplines this could include architecture, engineering, and construction.
  • Provide construction management expertise as needed to support field execution, issue resolution, and constructability reviews.
  • Foster collaboration and maintain alignment among project team members, including owners, consultants, trade partners, and internal staff.
  • Oversee project setup, budgets, monitor costs, and ensure financial tracking aligns with agreed-upon targets and contingency/risk management plans.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, timely progress reports, including milestone achievements, budget status, and potential risk or opportunity areas.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, contract amendments, RFI logs, and decision registers.
  • Drive lean thinking and continuous improvement within the project team, leveraging tools like pull planning, Choosing by Advantages (CBA), and Target Value Design (TVD).
  • Support internal team capacity building by mentoring junior staff, sharing IPD best practices, and contributing to Communities of Practice.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, policies, contracts, and quality standards, including adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement sessions and workshops, ensuring productive communication and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Act as the point of contact for clients and partners, building trust and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in strategic planning and internal initiatives that shape the company’s IPD approach and Enhanced Project Delivery Discipline, culture, and future direction.
